River Delta

The river delta represents the meeting of different types of places coming together. The river meeting another body of water, such as an ocean, gulf, or sea. The larger body of water slows down the flow of the river, allowing it to deposit nutrient-rich silt. Sometimes, it can be fresh water meeting salt water, creating a new, estuary environment. In many cases, like the Nile delta pictured here, the river deltas also represent fertile areas, fostering growth. Not just food grows here, but civilization may also grow out of this, too.
